Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get funding?

To get funding, you’ll need to create promotional materials for your new club. We require you to create a website for your club, and we recommend creating a logo and other resources.

Once you have created promotional materials for your club, you can submit an application for a grant and will receive up to $100 in funding. More information about funding amounts can be found here.

Why do I have to make promotional materials?

We require you to make promotional materials before receiving your grant to show that you have some knowledge of building projects and that you are serious about running your club.

What can I buy with the funding?

You may buy technical supplies for your club such as Raspberry Pis or hardware kits. You may also buy rewards such as stickers or food for attendees.

Please note that Hack Club is a non-profit. Any misuse of this funding will be considered fraud and conduct action will be taken.

Who is eligible?

Any new Hack Club programming club that hasn’t received Start Grant funding before.

How long does review take?

We aim to review submissions within a few days. You’ll hear back by email.

Can I use AI?

You cannot use AI in any form during the creation of your club’s materials. Use of AI gives the appearance of your club being low effort. If you are going to run a programming club you should be able to build projects without relying on AI.
